Thank you for checking out my website!

My name is Terri, I have been in and out of the photography field since I was in high school…..a few years ago. I officially developed pictures for a local newspaper for a couple of years, but hung around learning what I could for a few years before that.

I have worn a few different hats in my lifetime, Sunday School Teacher, Newspaper Employee, Babysitter, Customer Service Manager, Checker, Foster Parent, Nanny, Student, Wife, Mom, Medical Records Clerk, Teacher, Receptionist, and Photographer to name a few.

I have always been fascinated with photography but was unable to purchase a camera that was good enough to use for professional quality pictures.

For 15+ years I was a special education teacher, my specialty was preschool Autism Spectrum Disorders. One of my children was diagnosed with high functioning Autism so I am very familiar with working with children with disabilities (let me know if you have a special needs child and the times listed on the family and children shoots will be extended for not additional charge).

Before my children entered their senior year in high school I was able to purchase a higher end hobbyist camera.

For the past 7+ years I have focused on the behind the camera side of photography. I have been able to use some of the knowledge I gained from developing film as a photographer. Along the way there has been lens upgrades, camera upgrades, software upgrades, and lots and lots of learning! Just when you think you have it down now, you find out you didn’t really know as much about it as thought you did.

Something else I have learned during this process is people don’t realize what all is involved with photography, I know I sure did not before I started. There is more to it than just pointing a camera and pushing a button. There is always the light to consider! Too much or too little can make a photo look bad. Shadows and stray hairs, poising and backgrounds are huge for a good photo. Making sure everyone is looking the right way and has their eyes open. These are just a few. THEN there is the editing. For perfectionists this can take a little while, as we want to make sure everyone is getting the best photo possible. If you shoot in JPEG (the standard photo format) you have 1 less step to do but professional photographers shoot in RAW. Shooting in RAW pays off with better quality photos, as with anything better is not usually easier. Once edited it RAW then they have to be converted into JPEG and more editing takes place there. The end product is awesome. The photos can be printed and still look awesome, you can even print them in larger sizes and still amazing. (Phone camera take good photos for that small screen, that’s what they are for, not for larger printing).

Senior pictures, family pictures, children’s pictures, weddings, and special events are my favorite pictures to take. While I love babies and will take their pictures, I’m not the best at it. If you are already a client and want me to take them I would love to, but I’m not into the forced poses that are popular.

While I love taking pictures I’m NOT a fan of being in front of the camera. I avoid it like its the plague!

Thank you again for stopping by. Please let me know if I can help you with your photographic needs!
